Fines will be payable in customer service centres

“Rīgas satiksme” informs that starting from December 16 fines imposed by ticket controllers for fare dodging will be payable also in any of 7 customer service centres of “Rīgas satiksme”.

So far fines were payable via credit institutions (via an Internet bank or on the spot) or at “Latvia Post” offices in Riga. Now “Rīgas satiksme” offers to pay fines in one of its seven customer service centres: at   Spīķeru Street 1, Vienības gatve 117A, Kurzemes Avenue 137,  Prāgas Street 1, Brīvības Street 384b, Brīvības Street 191, Brīvības Street 49/53.

Cabinet of Ministers regulations provide that a passenger has to prepay for the use public transport in Riga city. In cases where a passenger cannot produce a document entitling him/her to the trip, the controller has the right to fine passenger for fare dodging. The passenger has the right to pay the fine on the spot or within one month after the statement has been written.

If a passenger does not pay the fine, the carrier has the right to submit passenger’s personal data to third parties for debt collection, and the passenger’s personalised e-ticket will be also blocked at this period.

It is planned that in the future fines imposed at parking lots will be also payable at customer service centres of “Rīgas satiksme”.
